Threefold Educational Foundation’s Pfeiffer Center and The Fellowship Community’s Duryea Farm have joined forces to combine farming and educational activities in a new cooperative endeavor — the Threefold Community Farm, a mutually supportive association of work and community. Through this collaboration, the work of both the Pfeiffer Center and the Fellowship Communities are supported in new ways, expanding and enhancing what is possible.

Located 30 miles northwest of New York City, Threefold Community Farm practices, teaches, and promotes biodynamics. We are entrusted with the care of forty acres of land on which we cultivate vegetables, herbs, flowers, and seed crops. We also create our own fertility and potting soil through composting, rotationally graze and cut hay for Rockland County’s only dairy herd and raw milk creamery, work two draft horses, and manage an apiary. We care for the land, feed our neighbors, enrich local community life, and offer a variety of educational opportunities.

Large Animals and the Farm Organism

The ideal biodynamic farm is a self-contained individuality to which cows contribute milk, meat, and soil fertility. Megan Durney shares about the essential nature of the animal, and Kim Vaughan covers the basics of biodynamic dairy herd management, including rotational grazing and pasture management. The day includes a visit to our herd, cow barn, and dairy, the only one in Rockland County.
